Peking University, Mar. 29, 2019: Dr. Warren von Eschenbach, associate vice president and assistant provost for internationalization of University of Notre Dame paid a visit to Peking University, together with Wang Jingyu, executive director of the Beijing Global Gateway of University of Notre Dame. Peking University Vice President Wang Bo received the delegation and extended warm welcome.

Warren von Eschenbach’s trip attempted to explore the possibility of undertaking teaching and research projects in partnership with Peking University. Both sides were involved in a thorough discussion centered on the newly-minted institutes, academic edges, the latest research progress, key concerns and future teaching and research plans.

Wang said that University of Notre Dame has made outstanding achievements in strengthening international exchanges and cooperation and interdisciplinary research. Wang then expressed his appreciation for University of Notre Dame’s plan to establish an international center globally, and hoped that the two sides could deepen their cooperation and contribute to the development of disciplines and social progress.

Eschenbach expressed congratulations and appreciation on the establishment of the Peking University Center of Future for Philosophy and Human Beings and the Peking University Berggruen Research Center. He hoped to drive the cooperation with Peking University, especially with the two interdisciplinary research centers, to jointly promote international dialogues and interdisciplinary research on the development of cutting-edge science and technology. Eschenbach also spoke highly of the interdisciplinary curriculum design of the Department of Philosophy and the exploration of the interdisciplinary cooperative teaching model.

The two sides exchanged souvenirs and agreed on the plans for future cooperation between the two universities.
