Peking University. Beijing. May 24, 2010: On May 15, Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York held 2010 Annual Meeting as well as a fund-raising dinner. PKU President Zhou Qifeng attended the dinner and delivered a speech. Prof. Li Yansong, Vice President of Peking University, Prof. Li Xiaoming, Assistant President of Peking University, department heads of Office of International Relations, Peking University Education Foundation, and Peking University Alumni Association, were also present at the activities.
PKU President Zhou Qifeng highly praised PKU alumni in the United States for their great contribution to both economical and social development and the promotion of Sino-US friendship. He also thanked Peking University Alumni Associations for their wholehearted work. What’s more, PKU President Zhou Qifeng shared his studying experiences in the United States, introduced new progress of PKU in many aspects like discipline construction, research innovation, personnel training and teaching quality.
In order to help the development of PKU, Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York, organized a fund-raising dinner to raise scholarships for the students of Peking University. Well-known calligrapher Prof. Yang Xin recorded a video for the dinner specially and donated his precious works. PKU President Zhou Qifeng wrote “Haina baichuan" (all rivers run into sea), which fetched 7000 dollars at the auction session of the dinner. This dinner raised more than 80000 dollars, and all funds would be used for PKU scholarships, so as to provide better conditions for students.
This annual meeting was carefully organized in five seminars. Around "business project," "bio-medicine project," "education project," "Wall Street project," and "project opportunities in China." It invited outstanding Peking University alumni and friends to make speeches in which they shared information, experiences and research results with audience. From last year, Peking University Alumni Association's Annual Meeting in New York began mainly in the form of seminars, providing a high-end platform for the alumni to communicate with each other, understand the latest situation in the United States, exchange the information about Sino-US technology, management, and finance. This form of annual meeting was warmly welcomed by the alumni.
Alumni and guests attending the alumni also enjoyed solo, piano solo and poetry reading which were composed and performed by alumni. Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York, formerly known as Peking University Alumni Association of United States, has been dedicated to serving alumni,the community and Peking University for the past 20 years.
